i was just reading a few reviews for this cd, and it amazed me how much people complain this is not 'real' metal like metallica or black sabbath or something like that. Of course it isnt, but who wants all bands to sound the same!!!!! And just because it doesnt sound like one of those old bands, doesnt make it not music. Now i dont like rap at all, but i love linkin park. i think they have good songs, i think the dj adds something special to the songs, and i love the way chester songs and screams. Also, the rapping isnt your normal cheesy gangsta rap, but kinda more relaxing to listen to with vocals tht mite just about mean something. take one of my favourites 'points of authourity'. this starts with rapping but because of the guitar and sound of it to me it sounds more metal than hip hop. Also, i would like to point out something to poeple who say chester just screams. Did you even listen to the cd? 'runaway' has some truly excellent singing in it, as does 'points of authourity' yeah, theres screaming, but when its done its done well. I adore the screaming bit at the end of one step closer. It seems to have so much agression behind it, which i like in music! also, if you ever see the live dvd, how many vocalists do you know who are note perfect all the way through their set, and can go from an insane screaming fit to singing clean and absolutely perfectly! i sure cant but wish i could!!!!!
Id also like to point out tht i like many other 'real' metal bands such as slayer, metallica, iron maiden etc. but i also like other bands like linkin park, slipknot, papa roach, system of a down and even cradle of filth, hoobastank and HIM. wht im trying to point out is not all the bands you listen to have to be older metal bands to make you a true metal head, man new bands have alot of talent, just cos they use a dj doesnt mean they arent heavy!!! And screamed vocals can be good if done well!!! but also, straight acoustic songs are good, with clean singing. Just appreciate the bands for wht they are, not wht other bands are!!

Oh yeah, buy this cd, along with meteora and live in texas, all great!!!! (ps HIM and slipknot RUle!!!)
