Shallow Music For Shallow People

This band and others like it, which is pretty much 90% of the filth they play on the radio, are the one-hit-wonders of today. But now it's more like one-album-wonders. This album has sold what, 8 million copies? Somethng close to going diamond? Who really cares.

This music is not good, plain and simple. It appeals to your single digit and teeny bopper kids and your simple, narrow plain of thought, governed by everyone but themselves teenager. This music is simple enough for the obtuse people who listen to the radio and MTV for them to tell you what's "cool", "hip" or "in". If I were the parents of these kids, I would do them a favor and kill them, and then myself for failing as a parent.

Any dumbass with a guitar can tune to any "dropped tuning" and hit a couple of chords, changing each progression per song by only a little bit. As a matter of fact, turn on your radio and tune it on to your local "metal" or modern rock station and I guarentee you'll hear the same thing under 50 different names; with more band members who just can't face the fact reality isn't what they thought it would be (no thanks to MTV).

If the subject matter of topics similar to the rules your gradeschool teacher would tell you appeals to you, then so would this. With all the problems like someone interrupting someone when they are speaking, misbehaving and the hilarity of basic teenage "angst" and rebellion, who needs the basic elements of music that makes it art? Your buddy Kurt Cobain got the picture, maybe you should too.

To summarize, bands like this fit an equasion in music similar to 2 + 2 = 4 in math:

simple catchy vocals containing your run of the mill problem + mindnumbingly simplistic music (and I use the term "music" loosely) = brainwashing...I mean, money...wait, I mean entertainment :)

What the hell happened to good music? What the hell happened to good musicians? Most of all, what the hell happened to the solos? You know what, don't play solos at all, don't even go past the 12th fret and don't even touch the first three strings, we don't need you to ruin everything. But wait, Godsmack ruined soloing, silly me I forgot.

All I can say is that as a musician, this band puts people who put all their time and effort into practicing to become a good player to shame. This band thrusts the people who work the hardest further into the ground, never to see the light of day. These shallow people in these telentless bands appeal to you shallow minded fans who can't comprehend the least complex of complex music.

You all make me sick.
