Does a new CD from a new band have to be "fresh" to be hot? Does it have to be a "new sound" to be good?? I don't think so. Case in point: Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory. Rap/Rock has been around for a long time. Heck, go back to RunDMC's rendition of Walk This Way. Look at Public Enemy. It's been around. But Linkin Park does a good job in every aspect of this cool genre. Points in its favor:

1. Chester's screaming fits so darn well with the lyrics! I mean, they're writing about being totally pissed off all the time. How can you sing/rap about being pissed off without screaming?? However, his screaming is juxtaposed awesomely with his singing...awesome voice, in my ever-humble opinion.

2. Sure, the guitar riffs and other sound effects are repetetive...but they're cool, which means that I end up happily singing these songs all over the place! And I don't mind...I've listened to this album over and over, and I find things that I love about it all the time. Listen closely...the repetition is broken up by awesome audio effects, and the like.

3. These guys can hold their own in their genre, and this has already been proven with their Sophomore album, Meteora. I look forward to what they are going to do in the future.
