Meteora

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (4/10)
This album has everything that made Hybrid Theory so successful. The catchy melodies and rhythms and rapping. However, this album is not a big leap from Hybrid Theory. The musicianship is no more advanced and the songs are still just as predictable, possibly even more so. The majority of the songs on this album follow the exact same structure.

Instrumental Intro
Verse(rapped or sung)
Prechorus
Chorus
Verse
Prechorus
Chorus
Bridge
Corus

The songs "Don't Stay", "Somewhere I Belong", "Lying From You", "Hit the Floor", "Faint", "Figure.09", "Breaking the Habit", "From the Inside", "Nobody's Listening", "Numb" generally follow this form. There is an advantage in doing this because it allows Linkin Park to consistently churn out catchy songs. So as a result, many of the songs are of similar quality. This formula was also prevalent on Hybrid Theory. If you play Numb and Pushing Me Away together, you'll find that each verse and chorus etc. starts at nearly the exact same time. The lyrics are also similar. Several of the songs are about the lyricist taking himself back from another person. The others are about healing or facing the pain. Nothing too special.

Most people who are into this type of music probably don't mind that most of the songs are very similar in music, structure, melody and lyric. If this is the case, then I would recommend Meteora and Hybrid Theory. If you like variety, I would look elsewhere.
