Madonna-Bedtime Stories Call It A Comeback!

While its not the most essential Madonna album, Bedtime Stories is a nice breath of fresh air. Following the overhyped and dissapointing Erotica, Bedtime Stories is set on a new pair of sheets and a mint on the pilow. The album contains a handful of sweet dreams; like the smooth and sultry "Secret" and "Take A Bow" is probably the best ballad since 1993's "Rain". Madonna has always been a dance artist though, and on this particular album she supplies some of the electronic beats that will lead to "Ray Of Light". "Holiday" was really where it all started, and the Bjork/Nellee Hooper produced "Bedtime Story" shows Madonna has not become a contemporary artist. For those snots who have snubbed their noses at Madonna for all the SEX hoopla, she gives them the finger on "Human Nature" with an infectious r&b groove and a potty mouth. "OOPs.. I didnt know i couldnt talk about sex.." she sarcastically spits. MEOOWW! Check the video if you think shes softened at all. As for the duds, theres good and plenty unfortunately. The opener "Survival" would be the first to get voted off the island, "Id Rather Be Your Lover" is the result of way too many late nights for Madonna. Id Rather her have trashed this. "Dont Stop" is too bad, even for the Erotica album. So in this new age of Madonna, where shes moved on to bigger and better things like motherhood, big belt buckles, and using violence as a new controversy tool; we can safely say Bedtime Stories was the best of times, and the worst of times, but definitely better than Erotica.
