Madonna

Ray Of Light

Her Best Album Ever

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
This is by far, hands down, my favorite Madonna album and how I yearn for the day when Madonna will do another album with William Orbit. On this work, Madonna blends perfectly spiritual meaningful lyrics with techo beats and succeeds on every level where a lot of other performers/groups who tried the same thing failed. The self reflective discovery in "Drowned World/Substitute For Love." The danceable pace of "Ray of Light," the unrequited love and yearning for another in both "Frozen" and "To Have and Not to Hold." The universal messages found in "Nothing Really Matters" and in "The Power of Goodbye."

I grew up listening to Madonna and yes, I am a big fan. Still when I first heard this album it was such a departure from the great sugary pop songs that I grew up and danced to that I didn't know what to feel about this work, I didn't want Madonna to grow up and stretch her artistry. Still as I have grown older and more spiritually aware of the world around me I see what a great album this is and how Madonna really outdid herself with this album and how I want more of Madonna like this.
