"Ray of Light" is the first step Madonna takes into her third stage of musical growth. "Madonna", "Like A Virgin", "True Blue" and "Like a Prayer" albums showed off the rebellious and ambitious spirit of an American girl, and in the process creating Madonna's first impression on her fans: rebellion & materialism. Then came along a blatantly, unapologetically sexual experience with "Erotica" and "Bedtime Stories" creating yet another impression: sexuality and corporal desire. In "Ray of Light", Madonna invites us into her spiritual and personal life lyrically and into the realm of electronic and underground sounds musically. This will probably be the most intimate impression that Madonna will ever leave on her fans: spirtuality and consciousness. People relate more to personally intimate lyrics, I believe, than just fluffy and happy ones. I think "Ray of Light" is Madonna's version of Tori Amos' "Little Earthquake": Personal, ingenious and classic.

Every single track on this album is special, which is something I cannot say about a whole lot of albums out there today. All you need to do is listen to it. You will definitely love it. A Madonna fan or not, this is a must-have for any music fan out there.
