An exceptional album
Review Score:

(8/10)
It's very rare to discover that an album has been hyped up for an actual reason. That's the case right here. This album wasn't one bit over hyped.Listening to it, makes it very clear how much effort went into it.The lyrics are simple, but they have actual meaning. And everyone has to hear the haunting last track"Mer Girl" for some amazing lyrics. This album proves that Madonna is a human being just like the rest of us.Whatever she's done before, this album is like coming out and saying, Yeah, I have a heart. This album is very uplifting and quietly powerful. It's uplifting but not in the neo-soul sunflower child way.It doesn't try and jump at you with a very trite"love urself" message. It simply shows a woman who is calm, and in perspective.Who looks at all her life's happenings, and is capable to go through each of them, to get to her conclusion. While we can all suppose as much we want that Madonna can't sing, the vocals were done very well on this disc.Madonna is proof that you can be expressive, and emotive, and not have 5 octave vocal chords. The production is incredible. It's so unbelievably creative, I can't believe that people actually were capable to think of this. And it wasn't one bit overproduced. It remained very delicate throughout the whole record. And I hate techno music a whole heck of a lot, so the fact that I really found this album to be very good, is saying alot. And behind the million dollar production, lies some genuinely well-written music, strong melodies, without trying to hard to be catchy. That's what real music is about. It's not meant to appeal with a catchy hook, it's melody is meant to subtly caress you.So why four stars?Well, there's a difference between loving an album, or finding it just genuinely well-done/I find it genuinely well-done, but I don't love it, and never will.I also though that the yoga-like chant of shanti/ashtagni was totally not needed, and a little freaky, lol.Even though I don't love this album, I find that it's good music, and I think anyone can enjoy it.It's creative, personal, deep, and well-written.
