This is Madonna's best album - by far. It's better than the Immaculate Collection and GHV2 - by streets.

I've not always been the biggest fan, because she has unnecessarily resorted to cheap sexual innouendo. Her talent as a composer and singer are so great that she doesn't need to do that. Having said that, Erotica is another fantastic album, but is still light years behind this one.

Touching, moving, melodic, rocky, sweet (in the nicest, not sugary, sense) and enigmatic. These words describe the cuts on this album. My favourites are "Drowned World/Substitute for Love", "Ray of Light" and the final five - "Frozen", "Power of Goodbye" (the best on the album), "To Have and Not to Hold", "Little Star" and "Mer Girl". The production is marvellous - the Orbit touch.

It's a masterpiece, a massive surprise and I hope her next album is similar to this - and not "Music", which although pretty good, was a slight disappointment; but that's the thing about Madonna - you never know what to expect, but you will be interested.
