On the first track- Massive Attack use their crafty skills to create a unique trip-hop version of ''I Want You'', summoning thickset lush beats, a similar but much better description of Porthishead's ''Roads''. This song sounds like it was recorded 20 years ahead of time. This track, personally is one of ultimate my favorites by both artists -Madonna and Massive Attack-, I wish she would team up with them once again.
''I'll Remember'' is also included on this CD, a previous soundtrack from the film ''With Honors''.
The beautiful and captivating ''Take A Bow'' steps in surprisingly.
''You'll See'' slightly enhanced, and viewed as a sequel/follow-up to ''Take A Bow''...while the song also brings us the sequel video to ''Take A Bow''.
''Crazy For You'', incontestably one of Madonna's very early classics, but yet still sounds like it was recorded in the 90's.
''This Used To Be My Playground'', a soundtrack from the movie in which Madonna starred in ''A League Of Their Own''. Not one of my favorites, but a good song.
''Live To Tell'', taken from the ''True Blue'' album, all-in-all it's a great song, not my favorite though.
''Love Don't Live Here Anymore'', David Reitzas creates a moving and 80's rock influenced remix, which is quite genuine in its own way- but it is inferior to the Soul Power Remix, which (unfortunately) was not included on this LP.
''Something To Remember'', The title track from which (If I'm Correct?) was taken from the ''I'm Breathless'' LP. Also another trip-hop track, (note that it was not inspired by Massive Attack). The lyrics are probably the best found on this album, this track proves that Madonna's voice is best utilized as an old soul instrument...whether as today -UNFORTUNATELY- she has (completely) forgone that style and has merged herself into the modern world of Pop & Rap, which can definitely be sampled from her ''American Life'' LP.
''Forbidden Love'', Critically acclaimed to be Madonna's most fading track, however it is a nice song and features some more thickset beats which put you in mind of ''Human Nature'' and ''Survival''.
''One More Chance'', An Acoustic and Pop sounding track, that certainly does sound like her most recent work found on ''American Life''. I'm not so fond of this track.
''Rain'', I remember in 93/94 the press said that this song (supposedly) signaled that Madonna was a grown woman who had matured and was moving away from the ghost of her previous albums ''Like A Virgin'', ''Like A Prayer''. The song is in actual fact one of the best songs from the Mid 90's. I like it allot.
''Oh Father'', a ballad which describes pain adjacent to death and loss. This track was taken from the ''Like A Prayer'' LP and digitally restored.
''I Want You (Orchestral)'', Massive Attack while experimenting with this track made a suggestion of singling out the beats (which are found on the first version) and leaving the track completely bare and making it their Orchestral version of ''I Want You'', personally I think this version is inferior to the first track.
So, out-and-out....If you're a fan of the Madonna we grew up to, who later on delivered us incredible tunes from ''Ray Of Light'' then you'd want use your money on some of her best work ever instead of using it on her most disappointing LP ''American Life''.
