Very Good, But Missing A Few Tracks.

I purchased this cd on a family trip in Hershey Park at a K - Mart. I was going through a phase in which I was obsessed with Madonna and evn had a huge crush on her. Listening to this album, I realized that Madonna was more than just a worldwide sex symbol. She could sing about the softer side of love. "Something To Remember" tries to capture that side, and while it does make a valiant effort, it falls flat.

There are several things dragging it down. First, the packaging is misleading. It's said to be a collection of love songs. Well, with the exception of "Crazy For You", the songs here aren't really love songs. They aremore ballads. Yes, there's a difference between a love song and a ballad. Love songs are songs about the celebration of the right realtionship that you can snuggle up with your lover to. Ballads deal with pain, which is what the majority of songs here deal with. If they wanted a solid collection of love songs while weeding out the ballads, they should've added upbeat songs like "Cherish" (my favorite Madonna song), and even faster numbers like "Angel", "True Blue", and "Like A Prayer", songs that were not slow and soft but still celebrated the power and joy of "True Love". The songs here could've been put together by anyone with a cd burner and the complete Madonna catalogue.

I suggest that you get all of Madonna's albums up 1994's "Bedtime Stories" before buying this album. It's not a good way to be introduced to Madonna's music. It's a good album, but not great.
