Madonna

Something To Remember

Something To Remember

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Most people remember Madonna for her great dance tracks. However, this album shows her softer side, compiling most of her ballads on one disc. The album begins with a new track, a remake of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You". Very nice and different from Madonna's other work. We then get gorgeous hit ballads, including "I'll Remember" and the timeless smash, "Take A Bow".Then comes the beautiful new (at the time)hit "You'll See".
After this we are treated with "Crazy For You" and "This Used To Be My Playground". They are followed by the haunting "Live to Tell" and the "remix" of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore". The album bogs down a bit with "Something To Remember", "Forbidden Love", and the new "One More Chance". All are listenable but oddly sequenced. The album renews with the nice "Rain" and the sad "Oh Father". It closes with an orchestral version of "I Want You".
Overall, the songs on here are first-rate ballads. This album proves why Madonna has such mass appeal. This album is a nice companion for "The Immaculate Collection" and "GHV2". Buy it today!
