The album starts off with I Want You, which is a lovely and romantic song. I would call I Want You one of Madonna's sophisticated songs. Her voice is very powerful on this track though by no means I would call I Want You the best track on Something To Remember. The second track is I'll Remember, which sounds unbelievable fresh and the choruses are a pleasure listening to. I can't seem to remember whether or not it was released as a single. Oh well nevermind. Another favourite of mine is Take A Bow, which still doesn't sound dated at all. It reached no. 1 in America (I believe). Other highlights on the album are Oh Father, Crazy For You, This Used To Be My Playground. These songs sum up what Madonna is all about. One thing I admire about Madonna is her way of releasing new material that has such diversity to it though I don't consider Something To Remember among her greatest albums.
Overall Something To Remember is indeed a good album though some of the ballads lack strenght esp. her ''nineties'' ballads such as One More Chance, Rain, Love Don't Live Here Anymore (the remix version), You'll See and the title track itself Something To Remember. I was slighty disapointed with the choices of ballads on this collection. I mean where are ballads such as Bad Girl, Promise To Tell and Pray For Spanish Eyes.
If you are a fan of ballads this album is definitely a must buy. The album is maninly filled with some of the best ballads Madonna has ever done. It's a good album to start with if you want to know a little more about Madonna's tender side.
