I remember early Madonna i.e "Like A Virgin" and "Like A Prayer" (most of her early songs are forgettable to me). She's controversial and talented, smart and sassy, and has a powerful voice and presence when she isn't trying to be commercial and the talk of the town. This cd is classic Madonna. "I Want You" is offbeat: both poignant and sophisticated. "I'll Remember" I don't know if this was a single or would have made it as a single but it's an excellent song for this cd. "Take A Bow" one of her best. Very dreamy. I heard the video was controversial, though I never saw it. "You'll See" reminds me of Judy Collins at her best. Very soulful and introspect. "Crazy For You" one of her early songs that I immediately liked. I remember thinking that she should have recorded more adult, serious songs like "Crazy For You". She seems to have moved more in this direction as she progressed. I even began to like your up-tempo songs, especially some of the videos they accompanied. "This Used To Be My Playground" I liked immediately. Great video, in fact, one of the most creative videos ever shot. "Live To Tell" another early hit that I liked. "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" a real powerhouse and sizzler. "Something To Remember" she reminds me of Streisand here. This song fits her perfectly. "Forbidden Love" my least favorite song on the cd. "One More Chance" doesn't jump out at me but I like it. "Rain" ok. "Oh Father" a rather personal and powerful song. This song qualifies her as a song writer. All in all, I give this collection five stars because the songs perform well as a collection. Some of her best and most interesting performances.
