Mandy Moore is one of the numerous female teenage singing stars who proliferate in pop music today (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Aaliyah, Destiny's Child, et al) and her face, personality and songs have garnered plenty of exposure via MTV, radio and magazine covers. She is one of the sweetest sounding young girls in the marketplace today, and may fill a void for the more innocent pre-pubescent sector. Although her first album positioned her alongside Britney soundwise, this 2000 release, featuring remixes of a couple of songs from Moore's first CD and some newer material cut in the two years since that set was released, finds her moving more towards a more pop Jewel sound. The title song and hit is wistful and catchy in both mixes, and "Walk Me Home" remains a real stand-out. Moore bears watching; her vocals are ingratiating and smart, and as she matures could develop real depth. It is nice to see an alternative to the early blooming sex bomb personas of most of her peers. Very, very catchy ear candy for the very, very young.
