Don't Diss Before You Listen...
Review Score:

(6/10)
...I can honestly say that before I received this CD as a gift, I wasn't a Mandy fan. After listening, I'm not "converted," but I think she has a few good songs that are worth a listen.
1)"In My Pocket"-This is a semi fast paced song with some nice lyrics: "Nothin' but pennies in my pocket/Nothin' but faith to keep me warm..." This is a nice opener for the CD, and proves that Mandy does sing.
3) "Saturate Me"-This song is kind of on the slow side, but I think it has well thought out lyrics, and Mandy has a good range. Some of the best lyrics for this song is at the beginning, when she sings, "The desert I wander lacks its mirage/There's no mistaking the barrage/of sand and wind that tears my skin..."
6) "Cry"-This ballad is probably the best song is on here! While the lyrics aren't "deep" or "revolutionary", they do have a message ("All your feelings so deep inside/It was then that I realized/That forever was in your eyes...") The only minor problem I found with this song is that sometimes Mandy's voice is too low or too high for the range it's in.
7) "Crush"-Actually, I don't like the lyrics, but it's a good song that I'm sure many teen listeners will/can relate to.
Out of all the young teen pop singers out there (i.e. Britney, Christina, Jessica) I prefer Mandy, both for her voice (it's obvious on this CD that she CAN sing/enjoys singing) and her attitude. Also, she has the most staying power (her 2003 release with all its positive reviews will prove this.) I say that while she will never become my favorite singer, good luck to her for whatever she wants to do.
My final recommendation for this CD is not to rush out to get it, but keep it in mind anyway.
