I am a great fan of the Manhattan transfer but can attest that this is not one of their better efforts. Most of the tracks sound like a high school glee club with bland, sometimes downright silly, arrangements and none of the complex styling that made them one of the best vocal groups in the business. "Let's Hang On" and "Along Came Mary" are hard to listen to without cringing and "God Only Knows" sounds like someone doing a parody of their style. The high point is "The Thrill Is Gone" which is good enough to be on any of their other CDs. This will only appeal to someone who has never heard their music and doesn't know just how fine Manhattan Transfer can be.
