The introduction of electronics is not the only thing that points evidence at the fact that the music was mainly written by Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nail's "leader". Bands during this time started to put electronic sounds into their once lo-fi ensembles. Like Radiohead's transition from their alternative "The Bends" to the electric heavy "OK Computer". However, on "Antichrist" the electronics and even the guitar work, sound identical to what is on Nine Inch Nails' "Fixed", "Broken", and various maxi-singles from their first album "Pretty Hate Machine".
Additionally this makes sense from Trent's perspective. "Fixed" is one of the most musically unique albums. Calling the tracks remixes is like calling a Porsche an automobile. It doesn't begin to describe it. Every song is an original score with awesome sounds, however that makes it the most difficult albums to listen to. The tracks are very long and very experimental. Thus "Antichrist" was a good place to reformat "Fixed", taking the same music but mixing it more conventionally.
I like "Antichrist" but I consider it a Nine Inch Nails album with a guest singer. Just listen to "Fixed" before "Antichrist" once and tell me I'm crazy.
