It's one thing if you understand the concept of this ground breaking album, and it's another if you do not. This album, like most of Marilyn Manson's albums, is many years ahead of its time. Reading through a chunk of the reviews here at Amazon.com, it's evident who does and who does not understand this album.

Antichrist Superstar is a semi-autobiographical record, with a unique, sophisticated, and original idea of him becoming Friedrich Nietzsche's Overman. If you didn't catch onto this, you don't have the right to speak of the lyrical content on Antichrist Superstar. If you took Marilyn Manson as being a sadist, I pity you. When you finally get a grasp of the concept of this album, there isn't an apparent pessimistic or optimistic feel you get from Marilyn Manson-- simply a realistic one. To put it simply, the message of the album is that, the battle between religion and atheism, good and evil, right and wrong..ect, will never be won, he is simply another player in this eternal battle. Only our scars remain to remind us of the battles we fought. Eternal Occulance.

Shock Rocker my ...

It's a tiring tiring term. If Marilyn Manson is shocking and grabbing your attention for this long, and especially because there's so much out there, that means he's good. That's the bottom line. He's said countless times that he's never intended to shock. Because Manson has been around for 10 years and he's said he's not a millionare, it also implies that Marilyn is not in this for the money. Alas my brothers, love of art is the driving force here.
