Every album of Marilyn Manson's, he reinvents himself towards a new sound and look which are all a work of art. I began to fall under his spell when I bought Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals which drew me in by the amazing sounds, vocals, and lyrics of Manson's work. Buying his newest album, Golden Age of Grotesque, I didnt know exactly what to expect because you never can with Manson. From the riffing guitar sounds of Mobscene and the catchy rythyms of This is the New Sh*t I bought this album right away because im a huge fan. I was, to be honest, dissapointed at his attempt to create burlesque sounds from the 1920's. The lyrics I felt were too lazily written featuring sloppy hooks and versus compared to the huge impact that Manson once had with words. Maybe it was the leaving of Twiggy who co-wrote Manson's best songs or maybe he is just getting tired. The lyrics never spoke to me and I grew tired of the record fast. Although it was my favorite when i first bought it I began to dig more into each track and realized this album was nothing special. Manson has still got me in a trance but I conclude that this album wasnt his best work. After reading all the good reviews on this album, who knows, I must be crazy.
