Although this isn't Manson's best cd (Mechanical Animals is the best!), it is still enjoyable to listen to. I believe it is only a slight step down from Holywood, and is therefore a good cd. The guitar riffs are awesome, the new use of various musical effects are a nice new addition, and the overall songs themselves all have good qualities about them. Whether you were expecting something completely different from Manson or not, you must remember that each artist has their own musical signature, which they carry through all of their work. Therefore, if this album sounds too much like his other albums, its because that is his style, which is being carried through each cd. On the other hand, if you think this album is too different from Manson's other stuff, remember that he changes themes with each album (in this instance early 1930s cabaret etc), therefore a change in his music will entail (think about the large difference in themes between Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals etc). Whatever way you look at it, if you are into industrial metal or whatever Manson's music is categorised as, you will enjoy this album (especially if you are a Manson fan). Give it a chance, listen with an open mind, and the songs will grow on you. Don't judge until you've given it time.
