A top album from a top artist. A much inspired comedown and commendable solo effort. I like the way Knopfler has gone back to much more traditional roots, and *some* of the lyric writing is inspired. Ok, the tendancies to rhyme when not needed is a bit annoying in places, but overall, I was very impressed. A nice, layed back, very much chilled album, with some nice guest touches, particularly James Taylor on the title track. I'll have to fully admit that I play this album a lot more that I really should! It has its faults, but if anyone put it on, I certainly wouldn't complain. I've only given it four stars for a reason however, and that is simple track 6, or Do America. If they had've left this track off the album I would've given it 5 stars immediately. I think not only does it completely spoil the mood of the entire album with it's plucky and sort of "theres got to be something to tap your foot to on the album" feel to it, it really does ruin a fantastic solo album. Who's your baby now and Junkie doll are a bit mediocre in places, but they are masked by some excellent tracks, some excellent guitar playing, and an extremely deep and full sound. Just one piece of advice.... In future Mark, DON'T do America ;)
