You have to judge them in two catagories...

I pride myself in having good taste in music, thats why I was extremely skeptical about Maroon 5 when I heard about them. I did see them as spin offs of Stevie Wonder etc. I listened to the songs a couple times each and fell in love with "Harder to Breathe", "This Love", "She will be loved" and "The Sun".
But then I saw the music videos... I felt like I had to air out the living room after the whole experiance. The lead singer seems to have this odd fascination with "doing it" on camera. The whole "This Love" video was ruined by him and this girl banging it out.
This almost turned me off. Because if there is one thing I can't stand in music- it's sexual innuendo. The funny thing is, the same thing doesn't happen in the songs. The only "reference" in the album is a line in "The Sun"
"The sex she slipped into my coffee"
Other then that there are some subtle "have to listen closely" lines. Such as in -This Love- "My pressure on your hips".
Um yeah.
But if you overlook the scanky videos (which you don't have to watch- and Harder to Breathe is good) and those two lines...what do you have? And absolutly awesome album. What a breath of fresh hair the Maroon 5 gang brings to the music world.
You either love them or hate them, so I can understand people not liking them at all. Be prepared for some Grammy nominations.
So it comes to... the videos or the music. Stay away from the videos (if your uncomfortable with that) and if you like the songs buy the album. Or if you want to be really safe, download every song except "This Love" and "The Sun" (but your really missing out if you get rid of the two).
Hope this helped.
