One of the best new rock albums ever

I was never really a big Matchbox 20 fan. "Real World" and "Long Day" were really catchy, but the rest of the album didn't phase me much. It wasn't until I heard "Bent" and "If You're Gone" on the radio and saw these guys live in Atlanta that I realized how much they rock.
I picked up "Mad Season" the other day and there isn't a bad track on this whole CD, I can assure you. The guys experiment with horns and some keyboards which work VERY well. I also love the ballads (the lyrics are so good...nothing amatuer). My favorite ballad is probably "Rest Stop." This song so bittersweet. The harmony on it is wonderful. The harmonies on the whole album are great. The rockers like "Black and White People," "Crutch,"and "Bent" have tons of energy. There's also some great mid-tempo songs which fall somewhere in the middle, like the excellent "If You're Gone," and the bluesy "Mad Season." I think Matchbox 20 has succeeded in bringing back melody to modern rock music, and some great opportunities to dance.
