Matthew Sweet comes full-circle back to brilliance!

This album is best enjoyed with large headphones while lying on a comfortable couch in a room with shag carpeting.

Sounding exactly like he should and strangely like he hasn't before, Matthew has renewed my love for his music. His CDs have always been there satisfying my different shades of Sweet moods as needed.

This one hits home where the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" did.

The first two songs blend together like an anthem or epic story. I love all the different musicians and instruments, especially the horns. The harmonies mixed with the textural layers he creates induce a feeling reminiscent to being "in" the music. As Van Morrison once said, " . . . it stoned me to my soul . . ."

Most likely, this is my favorite album of the year. (Plus, how can you beat the "big-eye" cover art?!!)
