An Amazing Classic Rock Album!

I was introduced to this album during the mid eightees as a teenage boy. The first couple of times I listened to it I merely thought it was OK, but something kept me listening and after a number holiday, much of which was spent with Bat Out of Hell playing quite loudly in my headphones I fell in love with it. MeatLoaf's voice is one of the most amazingly powerful voices I have ever heard and suits the music perfectly. If you get a chance to hear MeatLoaf sing Gershwin on Larry Adler's tribute album, A Tribute to Gershwin, you will hear how wonderful his voice is. Having said that his best work is on Bat Out Of Hell, in particular the Ballads. For Crying Out Loud is one of the most pwerful and operatic rock songs ever and Heaven Can Wait is simply one of the most beautiful and moving songs ever recorded. If you only know Paradise by the Dashboard Lights give the album a go, Heaven Can Wait, For Crying Out Loud and Two Out of Three Ain't Bad in particular.

Bat Out Of Hell is one of the most popular albums ever, I believe it is still in the top 200 in the UK and US? It was not just a one off fad that sold heaps, it has kept selling heaps year after year as new generations discover its power and passion.

BTW, unlike most sequels, Bat Out Of Hell II is a worthy bearer of the title, seeing MeatLoaf and Jim Steinman once again reunited.
