There are certain albums that stand out in any time period, among any generation. There are certain voices that never fade away. There are certain themes that never die out. Meat Loaf is one of those voices, and Bat Out Of Hell is a masterpiece of an album, created with the help of Jim Steinman. Bombastic in the truest sense of the word, the album is one massive dose of testosterone, the teenage experience, life, and rock and roll. More than twenty years later, the album still sounds as good as it did the day it came out, and after a fifteen year absense from the spotlight, Meat Loaf himself is back with an equally brilliant sequel "Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell", and a wonderfully intimate Storytellers tour, in which he electrifies small venues with his anecdotes, stories, sense of humor, and songs, answering questions, goofing off, and having a great time with his audience. While Meat Loaf was known for a role in "Rocky Horror Picture Show" (both the stage productions and film) and other stage work, it is this album that is the pinnicle of his career. For die hard fans, interested listeners, and anyone who enjoys rock and roll, this album is not to be missed.
