Some albums grab you and don't let you go until the disc stops spinning, Megadeth's classic Rust In Peace is one of those albums. Much more complex than their previous efforts, Rust In Peace really showed the complexity of everything Megadeth does. This album has one common theme throughout, the cruelty and unjustice in the government. Many bands have written about corruption of government but none pull it off quite as good as Rust In Peace. Holy Wars...The Punnishment Due and Take No Prisoners discuss the unfairness of war to the citizens and the people fighting, they are forced to fight and then left to die unrecognized. Dawn Patrol and Rust In Peace...Polaris show how pollution is leading to the ultimate destruction of Earth and the life on it. Hangar 18 warns of lies the government is telling us involving alien lifeforms in outer space. Not to mention the other four tracks, each with their own unique theme. Poison Was The Cure features possibly the most complex music on the album, with the slow bass and drum intro changing comletely into an all out speed metal assault. This album is nearly perfect, the only thing keeping it from a four star rating is the quality of the recording, but as far as the music goes, this is an unstoppable record. From the first chords of Holy Wars to the last scream of Polaris, Rust in Peace is an all out thrash metal assault.
