I heard that Megadeth were returning `back to their roots' with this new CD. What could this have meant? Megadeth playing complex, daring and passionate music like they did on `Peace Sells' or `Rust In Peace'? No, this was a total fabrication by the press / record company just to get people like me (who felt let down by `Youthanasia' and `Cryptic Writings') to buy The World Needs A Hero. This CD is not in the same league as their earlier stuff. I was very embarrassed at how bad this record was. The material here is extremely weak. No excitement, no fantasy, no imagination. The two 'other' band members have no personality and are nothing compared to the very talented Nick Menza and Marty Friedman. On this record is some of the most unimaginative and boring drumming I have ever heard - at one point I even heard a cymbal being hit out of time. Also some `bum' notes in the guitar lick that repeats at the end of `Return To Hangar'. There were some moments I was cringing at how bad the music was. A very, very weak album from a band capable of so much more. (Oh by the way, the `Limited Edition' means you get a cardboard slipcase and a poster with some tour dates on - great.)
