Megadeth

Youthanasia

Unlike any previous Deth album, melodic but pleasing

Ok this is Megadeth's 6th studio album and the first after the extreme success of Countdown to Extinction. Megadeth is one of the more interested metal bands from the classic big four of the 80s because each album is a little different and quite unique. Rust in peace was one of the better albums of the thrash genre and Countdown was arguable the best arena metal album ever, far better than Metallica's Black album in my opinion. So on to this release which is called Youthanasia.
Pros: the songs are perhaps the catchiest of Megadeth's career and the song writing is pretty tight throughout
the melodic tempo makes for some pretty easy listening for fans they do not have an ear for thrash-- this is in no way a thrash album
The line up that brought you rip and countdown is still intact and the muscianship benefits from it
All in all its commercial metal played very well with some above average song writing and dave's vocals are in the same league as Countdown
Now for the cons-- the pics of the band on the sleeves of the cd case and the cd itself are rediculously corny and cheesy, were the pics supposed to be a joke, i hope so air guitars and cheesy smiles, what happened to the serious looks and tough guy images of the 80s
sticks in the melodic range entire duration of album-- good for fans of melodic metal but bad for fans of thrash and even Countdown era fans
repetative and a little boring overall feeling at times, songs dont change structures much and no real kick ass hits like Countdown had
Overall this is above average commerical metal and still worth listening to for the musicianship alone, also some quite catchy songs on here, this album is the last high quality Megadeth album by the way.
