first of all for those of you who think dave cant sing are not real metal fans , go with nsync or something, Dave's voice fits the metal genre and holds his own. Really its not really about singing the music. Ok now I am talking about Youthanasia the best megadeth album there is (rust in peace is good but overated really). I bought this after Cryptic and just sunk into the music. Man as soon as I heard the crushing guitars with daves voice stretching for the chorus in "Reckoning Day" I was like this is it, what I expect megadeth to sound like. Now I base all the other albums to Youth.. ."Train of Conquences" is not as good as everyone says , Yeah I love it but I prefer , the awesome 80's sound of "Addicted to Chaos" probably my fav. Megadeth tune to date. I play guitar and megadeth has alot going in that department, heh heh. I got tired of metallica's stuff and went with megadeth and I will stay forever. Youthanasia song review
"reckoning day" is a ultra heavy song, not speedy just heavy , when it builds up to an awesome catchy chorus where dave stretches his voice , i love it, also has a little acoustic breakdown that I always love about megadeth.
"train of conquences" goes a little beyond megadeths style to a more jazzy, funky intro. Chorus also takes away to sound like it fits, but has a super heavy part that is followed by a solo.
"addicted to chaos" I was so dissapointed that this song never became a hit or sung live. It beats the hell out of "Train.." from the beggining of the song till the end i was so amazed how awesome this song is I immediately repeated the song and started to learn the lyrics. Being a guitar player and learning this song was a good experience not hard , awesome guitar in the chorus it just complements dave singing, I thought he was saying in the first line, "entering my jealousy " instead of "In a dream I cannot see" by the way the lyrics are superb.
"a tout le monde" second fav. song on the album. slower than the usual but one of the best. also good lyrics, dave singing the chorus in french was cool, sad song though about some guy dying or something and music sets the mood for someone passing away after saying his dying words. awesome guitar ending , classic megadeth at the end.
"elysian fields" heavy song , took me a couple of listens to get used to it, has the sound of "peace sells". Songs chorus is like an anthem which is cool.
"Killing Road" the main riff will always be an inspiration on my guitar playin, I cant get enough of it. As far as the rest song its pretty awesome, though kinda of plain , basic intro, chorus ,solo stuff like that.
"Blood of heros" I luv personally love this song. The chorus especially almost like "addicted to chaos'" . The lyrics are really deep, I think it could have made on some kinda tribute to the heros of 9/11.Really heavy song, classic.
"Family tree" awesome song though the lyrics might not setttle with some people cause its about some who is sexually abused by a family member, which happens all the time and a hard subject to talk about, Probably the catchiest chorus on the album "let me show how I love you, its our secret you and me,,,let me show you how I love you, but keep it in the family tree" This song fits the album perfectly it defines Youthanasias sound.
"Youthanasia" pretty heavy song, though the vocals are a little gritty in the verses, fans of "Symphony" will like it cause its got an awesome chorus.
"I thought I knew it all" almost like a ballad, cause it has ballad like chorus like "A tout le monde". Another song that defines this albums song.
"Black Curtains" probably the heaviest song on the album. It would definetly fit "rust in peace" or "peace sells". Awesome song.
"Victory" fastest song on the album what makes this song so cool besides the awesome guitar work by Mustaine, and friedman is that the lyrics has names of megadeths older songs in the lyrics to tell a story about how dave overcame his drug habit.

This cd shoule defenitely be in everybodys collection. People should stop comparing their music to metallicas, megadeth is in a whole other ballpark cause metallica stuff is plain, Dave has complexed guitar riffs and bad choruses. anywayz pick it up
