Megadeth

Youthanasia

Stop moaning people.

Okay, we all know that Megadeth started out as a thrash band, then went a tad softer over the years, and hell if that didn't tick too many people off. NEWSFLASH! Not every band has to sound the same after every album! Hence, a change in style is 1) Okay 2) Not the end of the world, and 3) A pretty good choice as far as "Youthanasia" is concerned. Everything Megadeth learned to do up to this point is apparent. This is a wonderfully written, powerful, political, and yes, melodic album. Tell me "Reckoning Day" and "Train of Consequences" don't make you feel like bashing skulls in a pit. Sure, "Family Tree" is like the darker side of "Janie's Got a Gun," but it's the type of song about incest that almost every band tried duplicating, but only Megadeth could master. What else can I say? I don't have enough room to comment on every song, but for the love of God, a slower pace doesn't make an album bad!

Overall, Megadeth has shifted their focus from out-and-out thrash, because they knew that's what it took to craft a wonderful rock album.
