Nas

God's Son

Nas made you look AGAIN

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
I know i'm a little late writing this review, but i can't help it. "God Son" is Nas' third classic in a row. After his superior comeback "Stillmatic" and his classic "Lost Tapes", Nas hits us again with his by far most emotional album up to date. "God Son" starts off with "Get Down". A relaxed song with elements from James Browns "The Boss". This is a perfect way to start off your third classic in a row. Next is the Eminem-produced "The Cross". The beat is simple but strong and Nas' lyrics are tight as always. Then it's time for a real Hip Hop party. Damn. "Made you look" is easily one of the best songs on this album. Just check out this line: "now let's get it all in perspective/For all y'all enjoyment, a song y'all can step wit'/Y'all appointed me to bring rap justice/But I ain't five-O, y'all know it's Nas yo". Salaam Remi makes sure, that you are gonna nod your head to this beat and Nas lets us know that he's gone nowhere. "Last Real Ni**a Alive" is produced by Ron Browz (remember "Ether"?). Nas tells us how the beef between him and Jay-Z started and involves some of Hip Hop's finest, like Notorious B.I.G. and Raekwon. The next song is "Zone Out" featuring the Bravehearts. The song ain't that bad, but it isn't the greatest either. The 6th song is "Hey Nas" featuring Kelis and Claudette. I ain't feeling this song. Sorry. Then there is the positive "I Can". Perfect song. Then there is the Alchemist-produced "Book of Rhymes". Yes his legendary book of rhymes. Nas shows us again why he is the best MC in NY. I can go on and on reviewing every song on this album. But believe me, they are all perfect. Especially "Dance", this is Nas his deepest song ever. A hommage to his mother. Very touching. Definetely 5 stars. Let's see if Nas can create his fourth classic in a row, which is scheduled for april 2004.
