This time however we see a different side of Nas, with the passing away of his mother, his lyrics have become deeper and much more meaningful.
What I like about Nas is he raps about things worth rapping about. He does not promote violence or death, and does not glorify adultury and abuse. He is actually trying to convince children to be the best they can, evident through "I Can", and shows a different side of death in "Dance", a touching ode to his mother in which he raps-
"Your job is done, raising ghetto kids in the hood
You was my strength to carry on and now I'm good
Job well done, you lived threw you sons and your grandchildren
Jesus finally got his bride, mommy dance with him"
This album is worth getting- its satirical insights and emotional outlooks are worth all the money in the world
