Every one has said it before and i will say it again! No! This is not ILLMATIC! Nothing Nas does will ever come close to the production of Illmatic. BUT! The era of illmatic is over and it's time to move on to a new kind of hip hop. This is an excellent CD. Some of you don't even realize the pure genius of some of the tracks on this CD. Ron Isley is great on "Project Windows," even though it is not the same style of Nas that most people are not used to. It just proves that no matter what Nas explores in the rap industry he can do almost flawlessly. "shoot 'Em Up" is a great track just because of the flow of the lyrics. Beat or no Beat this is an excellent song. New World is a very deep song showing that Nas is tense about the new millenium. He may be "old-fashioned" and proves it by using a beat resembling that of Toto from the song Africa. Other then Big Girl this album is pure genius. New World, Shoot 'Em Up, and God Love us are my personal favorite tracks but mostly this is an all around good album. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is because Nas dropped this just 7 months after I Am... and could have made it another classic if he had just waited and cut out the flaws.
