Nasty Nas to Escobar to Nastradamus.

We all know Nas is a great emcee. The true Nas fans also know he is much more capable of putting out better albums than "Nastradamus."

When I first heard this album I wanted to just toss it in the trash can. I seen the video for the self title track "Nastradamus" and I was impressed. Then I bought the album and came to find myself in a state of disappointment. After a few more listens I found it is not as bad as it is the first time you hear it.

The intro and outro show this album had much potential. Nas just messed it up though.

Lyrically, Nas is at his all time lowest. With tracks like "Some of Us Have Angels" "Come Get Me" "Shoot Em Up" "Big Girl" and "You Owe Me" prove Nas is nothing like he once was. If it wasn't for the recent drop of "Illmatic" I would have given up on Nas.

Production wise this album is nice just like all his other albums. Its the concepts of the tracks on "Nastradamus" that I find to be for the most part garbage and meaningless.

Then there are a handfull of cuts that shine and some even shine bright. Cuts that shine "Life We Chose" "Nastradamus" "Quite Niggaz" and to some extent "Family" but the two tracks that save this album are "New World" and "Last Words" which has deep meaning and are the reason I give this album 3 stars and not 1.

If you are a deep Nas fan you probably have all of his albums and more than likely you rated this album at the bottom of the list just as I have. We all know Nas is a great emcee and can shine when he wants to, but with another drop as weak as "Nastradamus" I think that will be the end of Nas. I hope that doesn't happen b/c I can't stand Jay Z and we need Nas here to keep the homo rapper in check.
