The Prophet Returns With A Hit

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
From the time that I saw the ad for this in the cover for his previous album I Am, I couldn't wait for this album to come out. I must say that I was not disappointed. A lot of people say that Nas turned pop with this album, but the main song they seem to base that on is the title song "Nastradamus". I tend to disagree with this statement. The song "Nastradamus" does have a sort of pop type sound but the rest of the cd is very chillin and deep. Songs like "Project Windows", "Last Words", and "Quiet Niggas" really make this a worthwhile album. Then you have the other pop sounding songs "New World" and "You Owe Me", but despite the pop sound they are still good songs. I think that Nas for the most part keeps it ghetto in this album. It's just a new sound, which has been the case with everyone of Nas's album's. Everybody keeps dissin every new album he comes out with because it doesn't sound like Illmatic. That's the point, if it sounded like Illmatic it would be boring. Nas is coming up with new, innovative sounds. I would definitely recommend this album to any hip-hop fan.
