With the exception of more conscious lyricist, Nas is the best MC ever. Since the BBQ in 91 and the blessings known as "Illmatic" and "It was Written" Nas claimed the crown of King of New York. True, he became more commercial in his '99 albums, but "I Am" is still a great album just not classic. Nastradamus, is not up to par for him however, which led to the masterful follow up, "Stillmatic". This is his most intelligent album yet while maintaining his street edge. Most of the materialism displayed in his three albums before this is absent, and he's clearly molding himself into his best form. This album represents Nas reclaiming his crown as Ruler of the Hip Hop Empire and it couldnt have been done better.
