After Illmatic, I was very disappointed in the other albums that Nas brought out, then he just left the game. Jay-Z was the rap king and I just couldn't believe people forgot about Illmatic. Then the first Blueprint that Jay-Z brought out was to finish all the Illmatic bravado and to make Jay-Z the best rapper in New York. Then the "Takeover" made the radio waves and basically finished and tarnished Nas. Then all of the sudden Nas is on BET's top 10 countdown saying that Jay was through and he had another album coming out. The title "Stillmatic" shook the rap world, and for good reason. Nas brought his Illmatic style and tore Jay-Z apart in Ether, the song of the year in my opinion. He didn't stop there either, with Got Yourself a Gun, What Ya'll smoking, and Poison he brought some undiscovered light to the rap world! Then on One Mic, he was in a sort of a calm rage but, was very effective on that song. The rest of the CD is good but, I can't say its great because he set his own standard in Illmatic. However, it did deserve the 5 mics the Source Awarded this CD of the rebirth of probably the most disappointing rapper of all time. If he only had another CD similar to Illmatic, he would have definitely been the greatest rapper of all-time. Every big rap fan should own this politically correct CD. My favorite song is Ether by the way. Cop this album for your collection!
