Let's face it. We're not going to see another Illmatic anytime soon. Comparing everything Nas does now to it is insane. Stillmatic, however, comes very close in quality to its predecessor.

I bought this CD when it first came out, years ago, and just decided to play it again. Nas proves his mettle with lyrics once again. If you don't mind the 'sex, money, and cars' style of most rappers, great, Nas's style is still very worth the money. If not, even better. Nas actually has something to say, and says it very well. That alone is reason enough to buy the album.

Songs like One Mic display the genius of Nas. The rapper pumps up his voice with emotion as the song progresses, only to drop back down to a calm, almost whispering voice before the chorus. Rewind, another track, is very original in its own right - Nas actually raps backwards.

If you haven't already, I'd definitely buy this album; even over Nas's newest 'God's Son' release, which I found disappointing. Jay-Z pales in comparison to Illmatic and Stillmatic, and rarely matches his rival.
