stillmatic is the resurrection of nas. after three weak jabs known as "it was written" "i am" and "nastradamus", nas comes with an uppercut. although many say he jumped ship for pop success since '96, nas sounds rather political and conscious on this album. such songs as "my country" "rule" and "what goes around" put aside the bling adorned on the cover and tap into relevant issues in the urban community - kind of what trick daddy did with "amerika". nas may go off the deep end with the retaliation songs "destroy.." and "ether" but he addresses the situation with confidence. oh and if all that wasn't suitable enough for you to purchase this album, nas comes on the innovative tip with his song "rewind." never before has any rapper told a story in reverse even rapping the dialogue backwords! nas, you've come a long way through all the criticism but this seems to be the return of 'god's son'
