Nas

Stillmatic

What a pleasant surprise.

When I heard that Stillmatic was first coming out I was hoping that he wouldn't denegrate Illmatic because I look at this album like it's long lost brother, it took us and Nas himself 7 years to find it. The album starts out blazing with the Stillmatic Intro and then the classic diss song Ether, boy I don't know how Jay-Z will recover from that tongue lashing. Some say Ether is the best diss song ever but I put it just behind 2Pac's "Hit 'Em Up" because that's just too good to be second. Got Yourself a Gun, You're Da Man, Rewind, 2nd Childhood and One Mic carry the weight of this album. Songs like Destroy & Rebuild, What Goes Around and Rule are top notch as well, some don't like Rule but I think it's catchy. All in all Stillmatic can stand side by side with Illmatic as his best work. Nas is Queens and now once again rap's finest.
