Nas

Street's Disciple

Another classic

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (8/10)
"Street's Disciple" stands alongside "Illmatic" as my favorite Nas albums. Sprawled luxuriously across 2 CDs, the album gives Nas a chance to let loose, and sample everything from blues ("Bridging the gap") to old school soul ("No one else in the room"). Those are my favorite tracks, along with "American way", "Live now", "Remember the times" and "Rest of my life". Nas shows his street side as well as his smooth soulful side on the slower tracks, and this makes for a very diverse and cohesive set, with something for whatever mood you are in. Nas is still one of the best rappers out there right now, and with "Street's Disciple", it looks like he is going to be around for a lot longer. A fun, enjoyable listen. One of the best (and most important) hip-hop albums released in 2004. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
