He does it again
Review Score:

(8/10)
In today's rap world there are people who make music for the club, and something to bop your head to (Lil Jon), on the other hand there are MC's who are monsters on the mic and prevail as great lyricists (Eminem, Jay-Z). Without a doubt Nas is one of the nastiest dudes on the mic, however he has something that even great MC's like Em and jigga lack: creativity. Nas is regarded as one of the bests, but his skills are greatly underappreciated. Nas is one of the few rappers who can have average to whack production but still manage to pull off a masterpiece. That is exactly what Street's Disciple is, the production is o.k but Nas used his mediocre beats to perfection. What stands out on this album is his uncanny lyrics, and creativeness. Disc 1 is probably the best of the 2, with the exception of a very few tracks (reason), disc 2 isn't as great but is o.k. In this c.d nas sounds more like nas, this brilliant m.c uses many metaphors, understatements, and really challenges the listeners to really think. This vivid mc talks about a broad range of topics from marriage, to american society, and even the wave of politically conscious rappers. The only thing wrong with this album is that it is too long and some songs just should have been dropped.
It truly is sad that someone this great wont sale 20 million copies of this c.d even though he should. Maybe its because he doesn't make stupid club bangers, or perhaps he is sometimes hard to understand. At times it seems as if he raps with a stream on conscious, making him hard to understand. the track nazareth savage is a perfect example of that, surely he kills the track lyrically but a lot people will never understand the true meaning of this song. Street's Disciple has many themes and powerful messages like no other album. Nas probably won't be appreciated until he's long gone. People don't have a knack for creative talent, Nas has adds an artistic aspect to his music which makes him great, and this aspect is clearly evident in this album and the most evident of all his albums. Nas's songs are true poetry with beats to give them life. The messages of his song say so much more than he what he actually says in the song.
Surley Jigga and Em are considered the best, but truly Nas is the best rapper around. Surley these dudes can spit some wicked lyrics but music is a form of art, and their music lacks artistical value. Nowadays a great beat can make a song classic, but what makes Nas's stuff classic is him, and not the beat.
