I wasn't sure why some of these tracks were kept on the shelf. I could give it 5 stars, but I have trouble giving a flawless rating to a compilation album, but it's pretty close to it. If I'm not mistaken, these were tracks that would have been on "I Am" because it was originally supposed to be a double cd, but bootlegging prevented it. Many of these songs show a more personal side of Nas, especially in "Drunk by myself" and "My Way". My two favorites would have to be "Nothing Lasts forever" and "Poppa Was a playa". Nothing Lasts forever is an emotional song which has him rapping about how life changes and how you need to savor your moments because it won't last forever. I really felt that one. On poppa was a playa, he pays homage to his father. Another heartfelt song with touching lyrics. He also goes back to his raw roots with "Blaze a 50" with has a hard beat with hardcore lyrics. Another very good track was "No Idea's Original" which explains how everything is inspired from something else. And it isn't what you do, it's how you do it. I couldn't agree more with him. This is definitly an album that is worth adding to the collection. Credit to Nas for uncovering these tracks when hip hop needed them most.
