Nas

The Lost Tapes

Forget the albums, this is Nas at his best

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
This is by far the most overlooked hip hop album of all time. Columbia Records spent only $7,500 on advertising for the project (roughly 1 week of non-primetime television advertising) and this is without a doubt the best Nas project since Illmatic without a doubt. It honestly puts God's Son, Stillmatic, and all other projects following Illmatic to shame. The production is incredible and Nas' rhymes flow better than ever. How these tracks never made it to his "mainstream" albums will be a constant question in my mind, as one listen to the opening `Doo Rags' track will certainly do the same for most listeners. If you seriously, and I do mean *seriously* enjoy good hip hop, regardless if you are or aren't a Nas fan, pick up this album. If you are disappointed, you unfortunately have significant issues that must be dealt with.
