The Lost Tapes

The real Nas

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
What makes this CD tight is that we finally get to hear the real Nas again. This is a Nas album, not an "Escobar" album, and a little more...no scratch that... a LOT more realness is what hip hop needs right now. The beats are tight, different, and interesting. From the mellow piano of the first track that Nas flows over like water, I was impressed. I pretty much lost interest in Nas after I AM, but he's coming back. The fact that these tracks were slept on for Nas' official, comercial releases, is just one example of how comercialism is killing true hip-hop.

Oh yeah, a lot of people are so impressed by "fetus", but remember Canibus did it first on his first album. It's a good song though. would be better without the random, unecessary "I shot my way out my mom dukes" sample. Oh yeah, he should quit with the Jay-Z dis songs "everybody's crazy", and "ether" on Stillmatic, cause they turn out to be weak songs with weak beats on tight albums
