The Lost Tapes

This is Hip hop pt.1

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
lost tapes is one of nas's best albums, and it isnt even a proper album, just unreleased material finally mastered and put on cd. i dont know how he left the songs on here off his albums. the production is flawless the whole way through, with producers such as alchemist, LES, large pro and precision on it. i personally think one of his best songs ever appears on this, the amazing "doo rags", which is just nas at his best, over a very well produced beat. other stand out tracks include the alchemist produced "my way", "purple", "black zombie" and "poppa was a playa". it just shows you dont need lots of guest apperiences to make a good album, as this has none! (also just look at 'the blurprint'). if nas had just made these tracks and made it a official album, it would be up there with illmatic, although illmatic is still his best work, this is close. the only downside to the album is the track "blaze a 50", which has got quite boring production and the lyrics dont make much of an impact.
overall this is some of nas's finest work, and as lost tapes 2 comes out sometime this year, lets just hope he can make it as good as this!
