The Lost Tapes

If only this were a REAL Nas album

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
The fun thing about listening to an "unreleased" song from artists like Nas, Biggie, and Jay-Z is that no one else has ever heard of it. These aren't really lost tapes (I heard most of these songs already), but to anyone who didn't get the I Am bootleg, the Stillmatic album with the bonus disc, or who doesn't have any file-sharing programs, this album is for you.

This album never runs out of highlights: "Purple" has to be the best song on here. I also love "Doo Rags", "Poppa Was a Player", and my 1999 favorite, "Blaze a 50". It makes you wonder what was Nas thinking when he cut these songs from their respective albums. But The Lost Tapes has so many dope songs that, as an album format, it would be better than Stillmatic and God's Son combined (but not better than Illmatic; nothing is). Now if only they could have kept the original production for some of these songs...
