Nas

The Lost Tapes

Nas ...where have you been??

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Back in 1994 Nas was the second coming of Rakim. Illmatic was an underground classic and the future star was enjoying ghetto fame. For the next seven years this talented MC would be haunted by his demons of being one of the most lyrical rappers of all time. Nas would release "It Was Written", "I Am", "Nastradamus", and "Stillmatic". These were all solid albums but we still waited for Nasty Nas.
In comes "The Lost Tapes" where Nas decides to release songs that he completed over the past 2-3 years. Why didn't he put these songs on previous albums? We'll never know but thank god he finally fed the masses. This disc is classic material with songs such as "Du Rags", "Purple", "Nothing Last Forever", and "Fetus". But on "Gotta Luv It", Nas gives himself some love for a change with the line "Now back in the hood ni**as want to kill me, they ice-grill me, but on the low, ni**as feel me...you got to love it"...We do love this CD Nas and hopefully "Godson" will reach the hights that this LP did. Believe me my devoted hip hop fans, Lost Tapes is even better than "Stillmatic"...
